Washing a Badly Burned Pot

Have you ever had the misfortune of answering the phone while cooking away on your stove top, only to return a badly burned pot with dinner long gone? I know I have had more than a few occasions to really dirty several pots in my kitchen and have always been frustrated at the scrubbing, scrubbing, and more scrubbing it took to return my pot's bottom to it's former shining glory. My frustrations were recently able to disappear when I learned a great new tip! No, that tip was not to forgo attending to whatever needs arose around the house to pay attention to my cooking ;o)
Pot Makeover 101
1. Fill your offending pot with cold water and add two to three tablespoons of basic table salt.
2. Let the pot sit like this on your countop overnight.
3. In the morning, bring the water to a boil. While the water is boiling, the burnt bottom should look good as new.
4. Wash as normal.
Much less pain & "elbow grease" than scrubbing away with that steel wool or other scrubber! :o)

Wow. I will have to give that a try. Not that I need that tip... ahem... Well, maybe once in a while. ;-)
Umm, not that I have EVER done this (at least not this week...)!
This is much better and cheaper than my soak it with Cascade trick!
Thanks!
Thanks for the great tip, Mrs. Brigham! I dislike all the scrubbing (I work in a micro lab so we're constantly washing our hands - and me doubly so with a little babe at home!) - so my hands thank you, too! :) Thanks for the comment on my site. :) Cute picture of you and your little one!!

Perfect timing - my husband killed rice in my biggest (popcorn) pot. My mom suggested looking something up to deal with the black on the bottom... and now I don't have to. Thank you!
Thank you for stopping by ladies! :o)
